Happy Day of the Midwife!

Happy International Day of the Midwife! I found this posted on facebook by World Midwives and wanted to repost it: "Being a midwife means having immense responsibility with little authority. You step into people's lives and make a difference. Some bless you, some curse you. You see people at their worst and their best. You see life begin, end, and everything in between. You see a persons capacity for love, courage, and endurance." I love this quote because it is so true! We love our midwives!

As promised, I went back to my old high school and did my midwifery presentation for my history class. I hate, hate, hate public speaking! I'm not horrible at it but I hate it just the same. However, things went well. These young ladies had never heard of midwives! I guess because I've been so immersed in this world for so long that I take for granted that everyone has at least heard of a midwife, even if it's just a stereotype. I loved that I was able to open their minds to the possibility of not only becoming a midwife but using one in the future. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit and talk with these girls and answer their questions.

On another happy note, I received my post card yesterday! I can't tell you what it means to me to read the words of encouragement from my classmate...its a great reminder that I'm not in this alone and I will always have the support of my Frontier family.
