Speechless (and that doesn't happen often!)

It's hard to believe that this time last week I was sitting with my group members and advisor at orientation. It was an experience that I was super excited about, but I had no idea what to expect. I had a friend tell me that there is no experience like it, and that it would change your life. At the time I thought she was smoking something up there in the mountains. I mean really...since when does a grad school orientation change your life? Clearly I had no idea what this school was all about.
For me in the past, a college orientation entails going to that school, looking around, meeting the people in charge of greeting you, getting some information on how to register for classes and buy some books, maybe a t-shirt or window decal and call it a day.  This experience couldn't have been more different.
Just walking onto the campus and greeting the secretary in the office gave me such a sense of welcoming that all my anxieties were eased. And over the next 3 days that love and sense of welcoming continued. It was if we were all old friends coming home for a family reunion. I left knowing that I had made the right decision in where to continue my education. But I also came away with such a sense of pride and gratefulness for those who had come before me and completed this same journey. It's funny because everyone keeps asking me "how was it" and "what was it like" and I can't answer because I can't find the right words to describe it. How do you describe such a great experience without diminishing how awesome it was with the wrong words? I know I can't so for now, I'll just be speechless.
